Faces In The Mirror is an indie film that looked to Markitors to do some movie trailer marketing. With less than a month until the movie premiered, Markitors identified the following objectives to best leverage the trailer:

  • Establish the movie trailer as the “anchor” so other videos from the film could be more easily marketed
  • Optimize the movie trailer for Youtube and Google search terms so fans could immediately engage with the film
  • Strategically distribute and embed the movie trailer on movie and music blogs to reach a larger audience

With these marketing objectives in mind, Markitors gathered more than 25,000 Youtube views for the trailer and got the video to the #1 search spot on Youtube. The film also was one of the most popular Indie films on iTunes for the first two weekends after it’s online release.

The Faces In The Mirror Tour is a community organized, month long tour with screenings of the film and live music featuring Boyd Tinsley. The Faces In The Mirror tour schedule begins on February 6th in Portland, OR and concludes March 2nd in New York City. More than 16 cities are included on the tour. The community that follows Boyd Tinsley and Faces In The Mirror online, collectively known as #Narnia, has helped organize this tour. #Narnia is making venue suggestions, city suggestions and handling the promotion. These gatherings are free, ticketed events that are open to the general public.

Faces In The Mirror is a film that, in the words of Reader’s Digest, “sings.” Markitors was tasked with developing and managing all the online marketing initiatives for the film, starting two months before it’s release.

Markitors quickly had to get to the core of what would move people to become interested in the film. In order to develop a movie marketing strategy and subsequently manage our strategy, we did the following:

  • Conducted a comprehensive evaluation of similar movies (Moonrise Kingdom and The Artist) and their social media marketing strategies
  • Developed the online voice for a silent film (Feel something that’s really real)
  • Determined what the movie was really selling (Emotion)
  • Created a weekly content schedule with ten creative ideas that reflect Faces In The Mirror’s digital strategy (Including bringing the main character to life on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.)
  • Initiated a digital advertising strategy that would support the digital marketing strategy (Ran Facebook ads in multiple markets to promote one night screenings.)
