What’s the Compassionate Assistance story?
Compassionate Assistance is a family-owned, non-medical home care provider. Our branch provides home care in Scottsdale, Arizona. My father owns the Pennsylvania branch. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality, compassionate in-home personal care to families with loved ones that are chronically ill, disabled, or aging seniors. We are the home care solution offering an innovative, science-based approach to aging, elevating the standard of care for seniors everywhere.
I have been a caregiver for my younger brother, Joseph, who has Down Syndrome, my entire life. From first-hand experience, I personally know what it means to provide top quality care. I grew up with healthcare providers coming in and out of our home, there was always a lack of communication and our family was left in the dark. It is my mission to raise the bar on the quality of care in the home care industry.
What made you want to stay in home care, rather than getting another job?
Being able to help those in need is the most rewarding aspect of this job. I worked for a big corporation right after college and although the sales and contests motivated me, my real passion is helping others as I have been doing it my entire life. It is my mission to make a difference in as many families’ lives as I can. At some point in everyone’s lives, we will be faced with making decisions for a family member’s care. It is my job to educate the community on the resources that are available and what questions to ask when looking at home care options.
What makes your job worth it? What gets you excited to go to work every day?
The families and the individuals we provide care for make this job worth it. My team truly excites and motivates me to go to work everyday. Their commitment and growth to Compassionate Assistance is truly a blessing. Without them, we would not be where we are today.
What are some challenges you face in your work?
The most difficult challenges we face everyday are providing care for those who cannot afford it. The one major solution we did was obtaining a government contract with the Veterans Affairs here in Phoenix to assist Veterans at home. Through our continuing efforts, we hope to start a not-for-profit and donate the funds to those who are transitioning from hospital to home and cannot afford services for care.
